Positive Action
Positive Action is a comprehensive, school-based program for kindergarten through 8th grade students, which promotes learning through enhancement of self-concept, and emotional regulation. Positive Action operates on the philosophy that thoughts lead to actions, actions lead to feelings, and feelings lead to thoughts. Program results reveal significant positive effects on antisocial behavior, academic self-efficacy, and skills for social interaction in school.
- Self-concept - Students identify themselves/understand self-concept and this is the way they think/feel about themselves and sometimes family or friends can influence this
- Positive action for your body and mind - Focuses on specific positive actions for physical health and positive actions for intellectual health
- Managing yourself responsibly - Students learn to manage their own resources: time, energy, possessions, money, talents. thoughts, actions and feelings
- Treating others the way you like to be treated - Students learn and practice respect, empathy, friendliness, kindness, cooperation and positive ways of dealing with others
- Telling yourself the truth - Students practice telling themselves the truth, knowing themselves, not blaming others, admitting their mistakes and keeping their word
- Improving yourself continually - Students learn how to set short/long term goals, how to make setting goals work, to believe in themselves, and work toward improvement
- Review - Opportunity to discuss positive actions learned, practice more, check on progress of student goals, and even establish new goals
